TechSys Inc. appoints Keith Blakely president & COO

FLORHAM PARK, N.J., March 12, 2002 — TechSys Inc. announced Tuesday that the company has appointed Keith Blakely as President and Chief Operating Officer.

An experienced manager, Blakely founded Advanced Refractory Technologies, Inc. (ART), a company focusing on the development of a new technology for synthesizing ceramic powders, and transformed ART from a two man operation into an organization with over 300 employees operating in two US facilities and with three international joint ventures and partnerships.

Under his leadership, ART established itself as an innovator in the development of advanced materials and products. ART’s technical expertise ranged from high performance ceramic powders to complex metal-ceramic components and thin-film diamond like nanocomposite coatings. ART’s customers and markets were international in scope.

ART was ISO certified and supplied products and services for the fuel cell, semiconductor, telecommunications, nuclear energy, microelectronics, automotive, and military markets. It manufactured and supplied critical products and services to major companies around the globe, including Motorola, Ericsson, M/A-Com, Westinghouse, McDermott International, United Defense, Applied Materials, Shin-Etsu, and many others.

Blakely spearheaded the establishment of ART’s fuel cell research, development, and manufacturing operations, which culminated in ART’s participation in a multi-year, $160 million contract with Cummins and McDermott under US Dept. of Energy sponsorship. In 2001, ART was acquired by a subsidiary of Tyco International, a $36 billion conglomerate.

Blakely led development teams which resulted in numerous US patents, is the named inventor on both US and foreign patents, is a multiple winner of the IR-100 award for the most significant new product of the year, given by Research and Development Magazine, was named Export Entrepreneur of the Year in 1994 by the NYS Business Development Center, and has authored numerous technical and business articles and publications. In 2001 he was named a Fellow of the American Ceramic Society.

Steven L. Trenk, CEO of TKSS, stated, “Keith joins TechSys at an important time in the development of the company and will play a key role in its continued growth, as the company focuses on developing its solid oxide and direct methanol fuel cell technologies. Not only does he bring experience in fuel cells and related high technologies, but he also brings the skills necessary to help the company successfully transition from a focus on R&D to a focus on selling, marketing and manufacturing our fuel cell technologies.”

Keith Blakely said, “I am very excited about joining TechSys and bringing its advanced fuel cell technologies into the marketplace. The company has reached an advanced stage in its research and development, and we expect to unveil our progress over the coming months and move rapidly to commercial production of these products.”
