ROCKFORD, Ill., March 6, 2002 — Woodward Governor Co. announced today that it acquired Leonhard-Reglerbau, a company headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany, which specializes in the design, production and sales of control, protection, and monitoring devices for power generation equipment.
The product line complements Woodward’s engine and turbine system capabilities and substantially completes its power management controls product line that targets the distributed power generation market. Leonhard-Reglerbau employs about 100 people. Its 2001 annual sales were approximately US$13 million. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
Last April, Woodward’s Industrial Controls business entered into a product sales agreement with Leonhard-Reglerbau to sell and service an extensive range of their products to distributed power and power generation customers worldwide.
“We have worked together for about a year with great success,” said Tom Gendron, Woodward vice president and general manager, Industrial Controls. “The combination of Leonhard-Reglerbau and Woodward products have allowed customers around the world to enjoy the benefits of cost-effective, networked power generation controls solutions. We look to build on this early success by making Leonhard-Reglerbau our Center of Excellence for power management solutions.”
“Woodward’s outstanding product line and strong global sales and support network has opened many doors for Leonhard-Reglerbau’s products and capabilities,” said Gerhard Lauffer, managing director of Leonhard-Reglerbau and of Woodward’s new Power Management Center of Excellence. “By completely merging our technologies, engineering, and manufacturing capabilities, we will be able to reduce our product development and products costs while improving our time to market.”
