The August 2001 editorial on page 3 discusses the need to move ahead on the disposal issue. A good move that is not mentioned would be to rescind the Carter Administration’s edict that precludes the re-processing of spent fuel. This would significantly reduce the volume of radioactive materials that would have to be dealt with.I would judge such a move as an indication that the public really recognizesthat expanding nuclear energy sources is a good idea.
