Michigan Governor John Engler attends groundbreaking ceremony for new Dynegy power plant

HOUSTON, Texas, July 13, 2001 — Governor John Engler and local officials recently attended a ceremony to commemorate the start of construction of the Renaissance Power Project in Carson City, Mich.

Dynegy recently announced plans to construct the 680 MW natural gas-fired peaking facility in Carson City.

Dynegy will sell the power generated at the Renaissance Power Project in the wholesale electricity market to investor-owned utilities, electric cooperatives and municipalities throughout the East Central Area Reliability Council (ECAR) and other regions of the country. Commercial operation is expected to begin during the summer of 2002.
