Housed in this 49-foot trailer is a Cummins 16-cylinder, 60-litre diesel engine that operates on natural gas using Westport’s proprietary natural gas fuel system. Tests including connection to the local British Columbia Hydro grid are underway, and Westport plans to site three power generation units in the second half of 2001, at least one of which will be in California. The 60-litre engine can produce 1.5 MW continuously and up to 2 MW when configured for standby power. Photo courtesy of Westport Innovations.
