Alstom Power launches customer service web portal

WINDSOR, Conn.—(BUSINESS WIRE)—March 13, 2001—After a year in which it consolidated the power equipment businesses of several companies operating in the U.S., ALSTOM Power has introduced ALSTOM Power Online, a program to leverage the power of the Internet to provide comprehensive customer service across all of its product lines. The program will be the prototype for providing customer service to ALSTOM customers throughout the world.

An e-service web site was launched this month and is being rolled out to customers. The interactive Customer Service Portal offers personalization features for each user, so that they receive only the information appropriate to their requirements and profile. Currently users can request quotes, view product information, review inventory levels and obtain order status, among other functions. �This is only the beginning,� said Ken Estvanik, e-business project manager for ALSTOM Power. �Our goal is to fully integrate our service processes with those of our customers for an automated end-to-end solution that will improve their efficiency and competitiveness.� Future site enhancements include on-line illustrated product catalogs, collaborative planning, and predictive maintenance scheduling.

William Kitchen, president of ALSTOM Power Customer Service U.S. Operations, said that ALSTOM Power Online is an important element of the company’s objective of providing total plant maintenance. Through the web site, ALSTOM can provide access to the total range of ALSTOM Power products and services.
