Southern Company has named Susan Story executive vice president of engineering and generation services. Story most recently was vice president of procurement and materials.
Charles E. Moore has been promoted from senior vice president of Stone & Webster’s process group to executive vice president & CEO. Prior to joining the Shaw Group subsidiary last year, he had been vice president of corporate engineering at Albemarle.
Katherine McHale has been named vice president of marketing and communications for renewable hydrogen storage system developer Millennium Cell Inc.
Dr. Rex A. D’Agostino has been named vice president of marketing and sales for Evergreen Solar. He had been president and CEO of Environmizer Systems Corp.
Engineering and construction firm Washington Group International has named three executives to key positions. George Juetten, formerly senior vice president of Dresser Industries, has been named executive vice president and CFO. Thomas Zarges, formerly president and CEO of Washington Group’s industrial process unit, has been named president and CEO of Washington Power. G. Bretnell Williams, formerly EVP of Washington Industrial Process Operations, has been appointed president and CEO of Washington Industrial/Process.
George A. Williams has been named general manager of nuclear assurance for PPL’s Susquehanna nuclear plant. He moves from Carolina Power & Light where he was general manager of plant operations.
Roger Hale, chairman and CEO of LG&E Corp., has announced his retirement from the company, effective April 30. Victor Staffieri will replace Hale as CEO.

Thomas Tillman has joined Tubine Air Systems as director of operations, where he will oversee factory operations, field construction and balance-of-plant equipment packages.

Jorma Karppinen has been appointed president of Metso Automation’s Energy division, supplier of automation and information management solutions for several industries including electric power production, transmission and distribution. Metso Automation was formerly known as Neles Automation.
