Petal-covered parade floats — and not power outages — will roll through Pasadena, Calif., on New Year’s Day.

Despite a statewide energy crisis, the 112th Tournament of Roses parade has been spared by Pasadena officials, who promised Tuesday to keep sufficient electricity on hand to carry out the annual tradition.

Pasadena Water and Power —- a city-owned utility company —- said it will plump staffs to ensure the parade, the game and 57,000 customers remain supplied.
