Entergy gets OK to buy two nuclear plants

WASHINGTON, Oct. 3, 2000 (The Palm Beach Post)—New Orleans-based Entergy Corp., which is being bought by FPL Group, received approval Wednesday from the U.S. Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to buy two New York nuclear power plants.

Entergy is buying the plants for about $967 million. Entergy has been expanding its nuclear plant fleet, buying the Pilgrim plant in Massachusetts last year. Entergy will now have eight nuclear plants and FPL has two nuclear plants. When combined, FPL and Entergy will be the nation’s second-largest nuclear power generator.
