FPL Unveils New EV Fleet
Florida Power & Light Co. recently unveiled Florida`s largest electric vehicle (EV) fleet and the state`s largest public charging station at the company`s Miami offices. Dozens of new EVs have been added to the fleet. The 41 EVs include the EV1 by General Motors, the RAV4-EV from Toyota, the Ford Ranger and the Chevrolet S-10. They will be incorporated into the utility`s overall corporate fleet.
FPL`s new charging station has nine chargers and parking spaces reserved for EV charging. Five of the chargers are MagneCharge, the industry standard for inductive charging. FPL noted that for now the chargers will mostly be used for the utility`s fleet, but they are open to anyone driving an EV.
FPL recently opened an EV service center in Pompano Beach and helped launch the ElectroWave electric shuttle system on Miami Beach. p
