ANP planning2 gas-fired plants

American National Power Inc. (ANP) has announced plans to build 1,000 MW of gas-fired power plants in New England. ANP is investigating options to develop two sites, each with a 500 MW combined-cycle gas turbine plant. Sites have not been identified.

ANP intends to start construction of the plants in 1998, and it is expected they would be completed by 2000. The plants would compete to sell low-cost electricity, Joseph E. Cofelice, ANP`s senior vice president and COO, said.
