Westinghouse contracts for Mexico project
Westinghouse Electric Corp. has announced an order to supply a combustion turbine-generator for the Altamira Cogeneration Project in Tamaulipas, Mexico. The plant will be powered by a 120 MW Westinghouse Model 501D5A generator. The combustion turbine will operate on natural gas and No. 2 fuel oil with dry low-NOx emission control. Altamira Cogeneration Project will be owned by Enertek, a joint venture of Alpek S.A. de C.V. of Mexico and U.S.-based CSW International. The plant will provide electricity and steam for Grupo Alfa`s petrochemical facilities in Altamira and through wheeling will provide electric energy to firms in Monterrey and other areas of Mexico.
