ABB to perform stator replacements
ABB Power Generation Inc. Hydro Power has received contracts worth approximately $15 million for major generator stator replacements at three hydroelectric power plants. The replacements improve turbine efficiency and life expectancy.
Pacific Gas & Electric Co. is planning an upgrade at its Electra Hydro Station on the Mokelumne River in Jackson, Calif. ABB will upgrade the 48-year-old Unit 3, boosting capacity from 29.7 MW to 37 MW.
Susquehanna Electric Co. is replacing the stator on Unit 5 of the utility`s 11-unit Conowingo Hydro Station.
The Chelan County Public Utility District No. 1 of Wenatchee, Wash., is using ABB to perform four stator replacements on Units 8 through 11 at its Rocky Reach Hydro Project. Each unit has a rating of 132 MVA and a speed of 85.7 rpm.
