Duke Power takesEdison Award
Duke Power Co. is the first three-time recipient of the Edison Electric Institute`s highest honor–the Edison Award. Duke received the award for “innovative achievements and proactive approach to the competitive electric power marketplace.”
Recent accomplishments include: formation of Duke/Louis Dreyfus, a joint venture to aggressively market electric power by leveraging generating assets and trading expertise; formation of DukeNet, a telecommunications affiliate; operation excellence at the utility`s nuclear and coal-fired stations; good financial performance as reported by Wall Street ratings agencies; ongoing community partnerships; and successfully starting up the 16-unit Lincoln County Combustion Turbine Station. Duke also received the award in 1972 and 1984.
