CP&L selects GEfor 1,225-MW expansion
Carolina Power & Light (CP&L), Raleigh, N.C., has selected General Electric (GE) Power Systems to supply F technology gas turbine-generators for CP&L`s forecasted 1,225-MW expansion. The agreement represents the largest commitment for F technology by a U.S. utility to date.
The turnkey contract calls for GE to supply seven turbine-generators over the next five years. The primary fuel will be natural gas, with distillate oil as a backup.
