PE welcomes new managing editor
John Zink, Power Engineering`s (PE) new managing editor, is a new face to publishing but an old hand to the electric power generation industry. He has a PhD in mechanical/nuclear engineering from the University of Notre Dame and spent five years as an assistant professor of nuclear engineering at the University of Oklahoma (OU) in the `70s. He left OU to supervise work on the Black Fox Nuclear Project for Public Service Company of Oklahoma (PSO). When the project was scuttled, he moved on as Central & South West Services` (C&SW) vice president and director of research and development in Dallas. C&SW moved him back to Oklahoma as director of production services for PSO in 1988. Most recently, he headed AGC Research & Development, working on low-NOx catalytic combustors for small gas turbines.
He is a graduate of the Stanford Executive Program and the University of Michigan Public Utility Executive Program. He is a registered professional engineer in Oklahoma, Texas and California.
