Climate Change Act Plan reduces gas emissions
More than 30 of the largest electric companies recently signed agreements with the Department of Energy (DOE) that will reduce greenhouse gas emissions by more than 30 million metric tons by the year 2000. The agreements also represent additional reductions to those already identified by the Climate Change Action Plan, unveiled in October 1993.
Participating companies have listed activities that they will undertake in their climate agreements, and they will report annually on their progress. The DOE will work as a partner to assist in the regulatory and legislative arenas as the greenhouse gas reduction strategies are implemented.
