Take a Tour of Cape Canaveral Clean Energy Center

Florida Power & Light’s Cape Canaveral Next Generation Clean Energy Center, a 1,200-MW combined cycle plant equipped with three SGT6-8000H turbines from Siemens, began commercial operation April 24, 2013. At POWER-GEN International 2014, attendees can tour this innovative power plant on Monday Dec. 8. The deadline to register for this technical tour is Wednesday, Nov. 5. A background check is required to attend this tour.

While the federal government is proposing a plan to reduce power sector carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by 2030, speakers at a panel discussion by the organization Nuclear Matters said Oct. 24 that the Clean Power Plan doesn't do much for nuclear energy.
