Caterpillar Inc. ntroduces a family of remanufactured generator ends for standby, prime and continuous power applications using C32 and 3500 series Caterpillar engines. The first wave of remanufactured generator ends include 34 part numbers, which are available worldwide in 60Hz and 50Hz packages with ratings up to 2.5 MW.
The C32 and 3500 series engines have been used for applications ranging from distributed generation to prime power for remote communities and industrial processing plants. The advantage of investing in a remanufactured generator end will allow for the most diversity in product coverage while at the same time offering reliable power.

LEM transducer

LEM introduced its ITL 4000-S current transducer designed to measure currents up to 4000ARMS in conductors of up to 268 mm diameter. Employing closed-loop fluxgate technology, this new transducer offers accuracy ideal for industrial applications including DC control in transformers, offshore wind turbines for DC power transmission and leakage current measurement in any application with high primary currents.
Using closed-loop Fluxgate technology, highly accurate measurements of +/-0.1 percent of IPN are achieved over the operating temperature range from -40 C to +70 C. This high level of accuracy also allows the measurement of small DC currents in the presence of large AC components, which is particularly useful in applications such as transformer protection. For example, it is possible to monitor +/-10A DC over a 4000ARMS AC current with an uncertainty of +/-1A over an operating temperature range from -25 C to +50 C. The technology also offers good offset and gain thermal drift performance.
The large aperture of the ITL 4000-S makes it particularly suitable for measurements on high-voltage DC systems, which use large-diameter cables. It features high insulation for working voltages up to 1.5kVRMS in accordance with the EN 50178 standard.

The new IR4000 Infrared Combustible Gas Detection System from General Monitors is a scalable plant safety solution with voting. The system’s IR4000M Multi-Point Monitor can connect up to eight IR400 Point IR Gas Detectors and read their status with one command, one detector at a time. The IR4000M can also calibrate, gas check and zero each IR400 sensor with a single command, reducing the cycle time for routine maintenance.
The IR4000M monitor incorporates a display, relay module and a data concentrator in an explosion-proof enclosure and magnetic interface, which permits installation and calibration in hazardous locations. Optional 8 Amp relays expand system functions, reducing the need for integration with other controllers. HART and Modbus permit the device to convey device IDs, concentration readings, and time-stamped diagnostic, maintenance, and warning and alarm records to the control room.
The versatile IR4000 System is suitable for a wide range of hazardous industry processes and plant applications: LNG/LPG processing and storage, electric power generation plants, oil and gas production platforms, petrochemical refining, compressor stations, aerospace facilities and wastewater treatment. To improve the unit’s ability to stay in contact with railcar gates featuring rack-and-pinion opening mechanisms, Martin Engineering, an international supplier of systems and services for handling bulk materials, has introduced a new version of its Martin Railcar Opener.
Used to open the discharge gates on bottom-dump railroad hopper cars, the Martin Railcar Opener will improve unloading efficiency and reduce safety risks for personnel.
The improved Martin Railcar Opener features pivoting wheels that allow the unit to roll along the track to maintain contact with the traveling capstan of rack-and-pinion on AAR S-233-92 standard hopper car gates.
The Martin Railcar Opener provides 2,700 ft-lb (3661 N-m) of torque at 90 psi (6.2 bar) to open the most stubborn hopper car gates. The output force is smooth and non-impacting to open gates without damaging car mechanisms.
The Martin Railcar Opener adjustable cart base allows one worker to maneuver the opener through tight spaces. Unit height can be adjusted to meet the gate mechanism regardless of ground conditions at the unloading site.

Modbus/RTU Master capability has been added to the IntelliLogger line of network enabled, stand-alone data logging, reporting and alarming instruments. Register values can be read from connected Modbus Slave transducers, power meters, controls, flow meters and so on. Scanned Modbus register values can then be processed, logged to memory, used to trigger alarms and incorporated into FTP, e-mail and Web pages served by the IntelliLogger. The connection to slave devices via Modbus complements the existing hard-wired analog and digital signal and sensor I/O capability of the IntelliLogger.
The IntelliLogger is a low-power, stand-alone instrument that samples connected analog, digital and now, Modbus inputs, processes these signals and stores the results to internal or CF Card memory for reporting over the Internet and/or later download for analysis. The IntelliLogger is programmed via the included HyperWare-II software which features intuitive drag and drop icon-based programming. With HyperWare-II, simple to complex logging and alarming scenarios can be implemented, from math to interchannel calculations to conditional logging to statistical reduction and more. The IntelliLogger also features a network stack, facilitating direct connection to a LAN and the Internet. Automated data downloads via FTP are supported as well as email and SMS for status and alarms. The IntelliLogger has an integral Web page server, allowing users to check the IntelliLogger current status, download data and even change program parameters via browser access over the Web.

The sensor insures a consistent manufacturing process and allows tighter tolerances on heating processes, reducing heating costs while improving process throughput and product quality. Designed for integration, the CM sensor can replace traditional contact probes with a J-type or K-type thermocouple output, or with a user-scaleable 0-5 volt output, if the application is susceptible to noise.
An RS232 digital interface allows the user to configure all programmable sensor variables via the powerful Raytek DataTemp Multidrop software. These include a 24 volt DC alarm output triggered by target temperature or head ambient temperature; peak hold, valley hold or variable averaging signal processing; adjustable target emissivity settings; and adjustable window transmissivity setting. Cree Inc. introduces the LRP-38 LED lamp. Now shipping in volume, this light provides a tightly-focused beam, color quality, extended life and energy-efficiency. The Cree LRP-38 uses Cree TrueWhite technology to generate a CRI of 92 at a color temperature of 2700K. The beam delivers a center beam candlepower of 4000 with a beam angle of 20 degrees. This UL-listed light is designed to replace 50W - 90W halogen PAR38 bulbs, in various applications.
The input power is only 12 watts, resulting in a total delivered minimum efficacy of 42 lumens per watt. The lamp is designed to last 50,000 hours in open track fixtures or 35,000 in non-IC commercial recessed downlights. The lamp has an optical design that maximizes the amount of light within the beam while minimizing the source brightness.

The PowerLogic EGX300 combines Ethernet gateway functionality with an embedded Web page creation function and extensive on-board memory. With the EGX300, users can view critical real-time electrical system data and historical use patterns through trend plots to help optimize energy usage and utilize existing electrical infrastructure. The PowerLogic EGX300, which requires only a Web browser and Ethernet network, logs and displays real-time data and trend plots from up to 64 PowerLogic system devices, including other gateway devices on the same network.
The PowerLogic EGX300 automatically detects networked devices for easy system setup and sends selected logged data to users’ PCs for additional analysis via e-mail or FTP. It ensures data and system security through password protection and controlled network access to individual Web pages.

The elastomer sleeve produces a smooth venturi flow path that outlasts gate, plug, ball and stellite-coated control valves. The reinforced elastomer sleeve is the only wetted part of the valve, eliminating the need for packing, valve seats and mechanical parts. A cone sleeve trim is most commonly used in throttling applications for tighter control and better rangeability. Seatek Co. introduces the VT-270 Vee-Twin, which can strip cables from 5/16” to 2-1/8” O.D. The compact patented Vee-Twin stripper has a tremendous range and can quickly be adjusted to accept cables from 5/16” up to 2-1/8” outside diameter. The design allows you to first ring-cut a cable. While keeping the VT-270 clamped on the cable the blade is retracted and swung 90° and then re-inserted. Now pull the Vee-Twin along the cable to make a lengthwise cut and easily separate the cable’s jacket. The Vee-Twin can be operated in tight spaces and its double-vee cable support allows even curved cables to be stripped. The blade assembly is spring loaded permitting blade penetration to remain constant even with out of round and oval cables. Blades are replaceable.
