Thermal imagers

Fluke Corp. announced the high-performance Fluke Ti25 and Fluke Ti10 Thermal Imagers. Built to withstand harsh work environments, the Fluke Ti25 and Ti10 are designed as a thermal imaging solution for troubleshooting and maintenance of electrical installations, electro-mechanical equipment, process equipment, HVAC/R equipment and other industrial and electrical equipment.

Both models incorporate IR Fusion, a patent-pending technology that is designed to integrate infrared and visual (visible light) images in full screen or picture-in-picture views for enhanced problem detection and analysis. Fluke thermal imaging products can help users identify potential problem areas and begin analysis in the field.

The Ti25 and Ti10 feature the ability to record and save voice comments with every image taken (Ti25 only), a three-button menu designed for operation and navigation with the push of a thumb, and on-screen emissivity correction (Ti25 only).

The Fluke Ti25 and Ti10 Thermal Imagers are tested to withstand a drop of 6.5 feet (two meters) and are IP54 rated to withstand water and dust. With a widescreen full color LCD display, optimized thermal sensitivity and a temperature measurement range of -20 degrees Celsius to +350 degrees Celsius for the Ti25 and -20 degrees Celsius to +250 degrees Celsius for the Ti10 , the thermal imagers are suitable for most industrial, electrical and commercial applications, allowing users to operate from a distance and still see small temperature differences.

Fluke SmartView software (with free software upgrades for the life of the product) is included with each thermal imager. A modular suite of tools for viewing, annotating, editing and analyzing infrared images, SmartView software fully supports Fluke IR-Fusion technology, enabling users to edit images in five viewing modes and generate customizable, professional-looking reports in a few steps.

The imagers include a 2 GB SD memory card that will store at least 3,000 basic infrared images (.bmp file format) or 1,200 fully radiometric (.is2 IR Fusion file format) infrared and linked visual images, each with 60 seconds of voice annotation, as well as an SD card reader (USB) for downloading images into a computer. Each thermal imager comes with a hard carrying case and a soft transport bag, an adjustable hand strap, rechargeable internal battery and AC power supply/battery charger (including mains adapters).

Shaft-sealing solutions

SKF low-friction Waveseal shaft-sealing solutions feature a specially molded lip to form a sinusoidal or wave pattern around the shaft surface. This unique pattern enables lubricant to be pumped back to the bearing for lubricant retention while pushing dirt away from the lip/shaft surface (regardless which way the shaft is turning) to protect against contamination.

The specially designed lip is designed to generate 25 to 35 percent less heat at the contact point (minimizing premature seal failure due to heat checking, blistering, hardening, or lubricant breakdown) and 20 percent less friction torque or drag.

Seals with a Waveseal sealing lip are designed for gearboxes, speed reducers, transmissions, motors, drive systems and pumps, among others. Versions are available with a pressure profile for applications where pressure differential across the seal is higher than normal.

The Waveseal series can be supplied in nitrile rubber or fluoro rubber to fit shaft diameters from 0.250 inches to 12.250 inches and 12 millimeters to 280 millimeters. A non-hardening, water-based polyacrylate coating on the outside diameter of the seal compensates for small imperfections in housing bores.

Customized sealing solutions can be developed to satisfy particular application requirements.

Converter modules and battery chargers

Schaefer introduces the C/B 2700 Series of 3U DC/DC and AC/DC converter modules and battery chargers. The C/B 2700 uses industrial grade components.

The C/B 2700 Series topology delivers up to 600W at any DC input from 18VDC to 380VDC, with six input range choices. AC input options are single-phase 115VAC or 230VAC, as well as a three-phase input of 3 x 200VAC. Battery charging models are also available. Units feature single outputs in nine standard ranges from 8VDC-290VDC. All outputs are adjustable and tightly regulated to 0.2 percent or better (load) and 0.1 percent (line). Custom input and output ranges are readily available.

Convection cooled, these converters perform from -20 degrees C to +75 degrees C (derate above +55 degrees C), with an option for -40 degrees C operation. All models feature full electronic protection and up to 92 percent efficiency. EMI performance is to EN55022 Class A standards (Class B optional).

Units are packaged in a 3U x 28TE x 226mm (HxWxD) module with an optional wall mount configuration. Other options include input inrush current limiting, DC input reverse polarity protection, output parallel/redundant operation, remote on/off, Power Fail/DC-OK alarms, system reset, and programming/monitoring functions. Further mechanical “ruggedization” and extended environmental operating conditions for higher temperatures and humidity is also available.

Mechanical and electrical modifications to standard modules are readily available upon request. In addition, Schaefer can design and manufacture fully custom solutions.
