Digital Measurement and Control Instrument

Hach has introduced the sc1000 Universal Controller to its digital measurement platform. The sc1000 has two components: the probe module, to which analyzers and sensors are directly connected, and the portable display module. With a touch screen and organized color graphics, it is simple to operate. The sc1000 includes parameter-based advanced calculations and communicates with up to eight different sensors simultaneously, reducing the cost per measurement point. It can be expanded with additional probe modules to create a network. All measurements can be controlled through a single display module. Communication and relay options can be configured for any situation. Digital signals assure data integrity and immunity from interference, assuring accurate results. Analog and digital outputs allow the controller to integrate into an existing network. Additional communication features include an Ethernet service port and MultiMediaCard (MMC) slot. Available digital sensors include pH, ORP, suspended solids, conductivity, turbidity, nitrate, membrane D.O., and LDO. This system contains fully upgradeable software to help ensure it does not become obsolete.

FilterSense has introduced FilterWare for baghouses and all types of dust collection systems, enabling automated control, maintenance management and EPA compliance needs simultaneously. FilterWare provides instant maintenance diagnostics, process visualization, report generation and remote services. The HMI/SCADA and reporting software interfaces with the company’s range of baghouse controllers, sensors and CEMs. Stand alone and plant-wide systems are available. Benefits include lower operating costs, greater productivity from personnel and turn-key EPA reports compliant to 40 CFR 63.

Portable Balancing Instrument and Vibration Analyzer

Designed with an intuitive user interface that makes it easy to use, the Lord Corp. has introduced the Balance Check, which can be used to detect unbalance, identify the correction capacity required to offset unbalance and verify balance once it is restored. With its flexible instrument platform, the portable tool can be used in the field for machinery diagnostics, quality testing, vibration or FFT analysis, bump (rap) testing and live signal recording. The hardware is based on a high-performance handheld computer. The instrument uses a 400MHz XScale processor, large color display, easy operation function keys and has high-speed data acquisition capabilities through USB, IrDA and RS232. Designed with durability in mind, the rugged Balance Check instrument has IP65 (dust and water) sealing and a two-meter (Mil-Std 810 spec) multiple drop test rating. The protective cover and color screen make the device suitable for indoor and outdoor use. The instrument is capable of high precision static or dynamic reading in one or two planes on fans, impellers or machine tools and includes an on-screen step-by-step guide to balancing.

Flexible Piping System

Abresist Corp. has introduced the KALFLEX flexible and wear resistant pipe system, a cost-effective solution for connecting structural components that move due to vibration, thermal expansion or as a result of intended movement. Simple and quick to install, KALFLEX can be integrated into existing pipe systems using normal flanging and coupling connections, KALFLEX can also be used as a simple replacement stock item for a number of different angle pieces. These piping components are particularly useful in retrofitting systems with odd or indeterminate angles or dimensions, especially in hard to reach places. Only approximate measurements are needed.

The NoiseBuster Active Noise Reduction (ANR) Safety Earmuff is an important hearing protection product for industrial workers. Pump Bearings

SKF has introduced the 3300 DNR Series pump bearings, engineered with an exclusive double-row bearing design and steeper contact angle of 40 degrees to meet the higher thrust demands present in ANSI style pumps. These bearings are especially well-suited for pump applications characterized by high axial loads, marginal lubrication, higher operating temperatures and significant vibration due to operating conditions such as cavitation. A robust machined brass cage offers improved performance in heavy-duty and poorly lubricated conditions. Standard axial and internal clearance ranges promote load-sharing between the two rows of balls for cooler operation, reduced lubricant degradation and minimized risk of destructive “skidding” in the inactive row. Standard double-row pump bearings are available with a range of seals, shields and snap-ring options. Custom products can be developed to satisfy particular application requirements.
