The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission has approved the acquisition of Duquesne Light Holdings by a consortium led by Macquarie Infrastructure Partners. FERC also approved the merger between Chicago-based Peoples Energy and WPS Resources.

AEP has agreed to purchase the Lawrenceburg Generating Station from Public Service Enterprise Group for approximately $325 million. The 1,096 MW combined cycle plant went into commercial operation in 2004 next to AEP’s Tanners Creek Plant in Lawrenceburg, Ind.

Tenaska Power Fund and Warburg Pincus will acquire three plants from Dominion: The 625 MW Armstrong Plant in Pennsylvania, the 313 MW Pleasants Plant in West Virginia, and the 600 MW Troy Plant in Ohio. Pleasants and Armstrong can deliver power to the PJM and Troy serves MISO. Tenaska recently completed a $1.64 billion acquisition of six plants totaling 3,145 MW from Constellation Energy.

FPL Energy will purchase the two-unit, 1,033 MW Point Beach Nuclear Plant in Wisconsin from We Energies for $783 million along with nuclear fuel, inventory and other items for an additional $215 million.

AES Corporation has entered the North American electric transmission sector by acquiring the Trans-Elect trade name along with Trans-Elect’s development pipeline. AES and Trans-Elect’s former management team plan to develop projects across North America.

NRG Energy has completed the sale of the Red Bluff and Chowchilla II gas-fired units in northern California with a combined capacity of 94 MW to Wayzata Investment Partners for an undisclosed sum.
