President Bush nominated Dale Klein, University of Texas mechanical engineering professor, as a commissioner of the Nuclear Regulatory Commission. If the Senate approves the appointment, Bush would designate Klein NRC chairman. Klein currently is on leave from the university while serving at the Department of Defense.

Global power company InterGen named Neil H. Smith CEO, replacing John Stokes, who had been CEO since the company’s inception 2005.

Thomas E. Ferguson, president of Flowserve Pumps, has been elected president of the Hydraulic Institute.

Scott Dysert, who has been president of Liebert Global Services for the past three years, has been named president of Liebert North America.
