ALSTOM has been awarded a contract valued at more than $33 million by Louisa Environmental Power Partners to supply air pollution control systems for MidAmerican Energy’s 700 MW coal-fired plant in Muscatine, Iowa.

Black & Veatch has received a contract from Southern Company’s Gulf Power subsidiary to provide conceptual engineering for installing a CT-121 wet scrubber system for the 320 MW Unit 6 and 500 MW Unit 7 at the Plant Crist Station in Pensacola, Fla.

Babcock’s Riley Power unit will upgrade Ameren’s Duck Creek Unit 1 coal fired power plant in Canton, Illinois. The project includes steam generator and boiler modifications to increase reliability, provide fuel flexibility and improve boiler performance on both Illinois bituminous and PRB coals. The project is valued at more than $40 million. Babcock’s Thermal Engineering unit will replace feedwater heaters on six Consumers Energy units at the Karn, Campbell, Cobb and Weadock plants.

A team composed of Sargent & Lundy, CH2M Hill and WorleyParsons has been hired by Progress Energy to prepare combined construction and operating license applications for the Harris Nuclear Plant site in North Carolina using Westinghouse AP1000 reactor technology and for a yet-to-be-named site in Progress Energy’s Florida territory.

Siemens Power Generation will supply four new high-pressure turbines for the Forsmark 1 and 2 nuclear units in Sweden.

Wheelabrator Air Pollution Control will supply a multi-pollutant emission control system consisting of a fabric filter, ESP and wet FGD for the new 200 MW coal-fired Dallman Unit 4 in Springfield, Illinois.

Atlantic Group Radiological Services has received a contract from Nebraska Public Power District to provide radiological services for the Cooper Nuclear Station’s October refueling outage.

Emerson Process Management has supplied transmitters and interface units for 500 temperature monitoring points on a boiler/turbine system at Drax Power Station in the U.K.

Northern Power will design, install and commission a 1.1 MW combined heat and power system for the 48-story Transamerica Pyramid in San Francisco. It will be Northern’s third CHP system in San Francisco to be interconnected with PG&E’s downtown network grid.
