Proforma Software
EconExpert from Competitive Energy Insight provides a "universal" financial proforma model for the power generation and related industries. The program enables users to evaluate opportunities and risks associated with fossil projects without having to develop a custom model each time. EconExpert is applicable to almost all projects or technologies, including acquisition and new development prospects, repowering or unit replacements, gas, wood, or coal fuels, ranging in scale from industrial scale to utility scale.

Burner System
Eclipse Inc.'s FlueFire burner system has been specially designed to provide supplemental firing in cogeneration installations. FlueFire ensures intimate mixing of turbine exhaust gases with the burner fuel to provide complete combustion. The burner modules are made of alloy steel and can provide outlet temperatures up to 2200 F.

Measurement Gage
The MIC 360 diameter gage from Gagemaker Inc. measures internal and external diameters of large-diameter turbine components from up to 100 feet away and while they are rotating at speeds up to 360 SFM. Measurement accuracies, traceable to NIST, are ±0.0002 inches on diameters less than 12 inches, ±0.001 inches on diameters up to 240 inches, and ±0.002 inches on diameters up to 360 inches. For large power turbines, the MIC 360 eliminates the need to tear down equipment or use periphery tapes and bar gages. The unit consists of a gage head assembly containing a 3-3/4-inch diameter hardened steel precision gage wheel that rotates around a part and measures the diameter.

Diesel Fuel Injectors
A new bulletin on ECOTIP Super Stack diesel engine fuel injectors for power generation applications is available from Interstate Diesel. The bulletin provides the latest research and application data on fuel injectors with patented features that help reduce fuel consumption and lower smoke and particulate matter emissions. Data on fuel savings and emissions is presented in charts, while a cutaway shows how the injector creates more precise vaporization of the fuel at injection.

Vane Thermo-Anemometer
The multi-function Series VT-200 Vane Thermo-Anemometer from Dwyer Instruments can measure air velocity, volume and temperature. The instrument features a dual four-digit LCD that can simultaneously display air velocity and temperature in user-selectable units. The built-in datalogger can store up to 1,000 readings or transfer data to a PC via RS-232 communication. Accuracies are ±3 percent for air velocity measurements and ±1.5 F for temperature measurements. Each unit includes PC Windows software, 9-pin adapter with cable, 9V battery, hard carrying case and instruction manual.

Conveyor Release Backstop Device
A patented Manual Release Backstop (MRB) Device from Van der Graaf Inc. reduces the time and effort needed to reverse inclined conveyor direction. The MRB device can disengage an internal backstop by turning a cap screw, allowing the drum motor drive to move freely in the reverse direction so the belt can be unloaded. The device is operable from the shaft opposite the junction box for simpler access, and its function is internal to the drum, allowing operation under the most adverse conditions.

Head Protection
American Allsafe has added the HeadTurners hardhats to their line of head protection. Two designs are offered that can withstand temperature variances, humidity and exposure to UV light for long-lasting wear. The NightVision design is fully reflective for added protection in low light environments. Both the American Flag and NightVision models have four-point ratchet suspension, and the fully dielectric, nonslotted safety caps meet ANSI standards.
