Transformer fire reported at South Texas Project nuclear Unit 2

Unit 2 at the South Texas Project nuclear plant remains in shutdown after a transformer caught fire at the facility. No injury or damage to the reactor was reported.

The 1,410 MW reactor, owned by NRG Energy (NYSE: NRG), CPS Energy and Austin Energy, is located 90 miles southwest of Houston. The reactor will remain offline while repairs and inspections are made. Unit 1 at the plant is operating at full capacity, the AP reports.
