Construction on 700 MW natural gas fired power plant in Texas to begin next year

Construction is set to begin next year for a new 700 MW natural gas-fired power plant in Harlingen, Texas, according to a release from the Harlingen Economic Development Corp.

At the height of construction, the $650 million La Paloma Power Plant project is expected to have more than 600 workers on site, according to the release. The plant is being developed by Coronado Power Ventures LLC and Bechtel.

The project is expected to be completed about 2.5 years after construction begins.
