Soitec opened its North American solar manufacturing facility in San Diego, Calif. on Dec. 20.
Soitec acquired the 176,000-square-foot facility less than a year ago and will produce its concentrator photovoltaic (CPV) modules to support utility-scale projects in California.
The first module was produced in October, and the first 140 MWp phase of the production line is now operational. The factory has been designed to reach 280 MWp in capacity at full production.
M+W U.S. Inc, a subsidiary of the M+W Group, was the general contractor for the facility construction work.
