
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) cleared the way for Entergy Corp. (NYSE: ETR) to complete the acquisition of two combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plants from units of KGen Power Corp.
Entergy Arkansas is purchasing the $277 million, 620 MW Hot Springs plant in Hot Spring County, Ark. from KGen Hot Spring LLC. The power plant started commercial operations in 2002.
Entergy Mississippi is buying the $246 million, 450 MW Hinds power plant in Jackson, Miss. from KGen Hinds LLC. The plant began operations in 2001.
The transactions have already received regulatory approvals to close, including from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and applicable state utility commissions. The deals are expected to close by the end of 2012.
