Vestas cuts additional jobs in Colorado

Vestas, a Denmark-based wind turbine manufacturer, has announced that it will cut 75 jobs in addition to the 1,400 layoffs worldwide that were announced in August. The layoffs will affect workers at its blade factory in Brighton, Colo., according to The Denver Post.

Vestas has already cut 30 jobs at Brighton and 90 jobs at its tower factory in Pueblo, Colo.

In 2013, Vestas expects its shipped order volume to decrease to 5 GW thanks to the possible expiration of the production tax credit. However, the company booked 945 MW of new orders in the 2Q, but it posted a net loss of EUR 8 million ($9.9 million) in 2Q 2012, down from a net profit of EUR 55 million ($68.6 million) in the previous year.
