Germany-based Schmid Group is planning to build a solar panel factory in Argentina’s San Juan province, according to BNamericas.
The government wants to develop a factory that would produce between 70 MW and 100 MW of panels every year. Officials are also looking into building an adjacent research center to develop new technologies, the article said. Schmid would reportedly provide the technology and train engineers to operate the plant.
According to the article, the contract is expected to be signed by late 2012 or early 2013 and construction will immediately follow.
