Calpine Energy Services LP, a subsidiary of Calpine Corp. (NYSE: CPN), signed a power purchase agreement to provide an additional 200 MW of energy to Southwestern Public Services Co. (SPS), a subsidiary of Xcel Energy (NYSE: XEL) from Calpine’s 1,134 MW Oneta combined-cycle power plant in Coweta, Okla.
Power will be supplied beginning June 1, 2014 through May 31, 2019. Calpine is already providing 200 MW of electricity from the Oneta plant to SPS under a seven-year PPA that began January 1, 2012.
The latest PPA is subject to approval from the New Mexico Public Regulation Commission.
