On April 26, Hydro-Québec informed the Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission (CNSC) of a heavy water leak in the reactor building at the 675 MW Gentilly 2 nuclear power plant near Bécancour, Quebec, the commission said on May 2.
The CNSC said releases to the environment were well below regulatory limits, although two workers did receive small doses. Hydro-Québec is required to submit a detailed event report by mid-June.
