The U.S. and the United Kingdom will jointly develop floating offshore wind turbines that do not require anchoring to the seabed.

The two countries will collaborate in the development of floating wind technology designed to generate power in deep waters currently off limits to conventional turbines but where the wind is much stronger. Both parties hope that developing the technology will increase the UK's offshore wind potential, reduce the current costs of offshore wind and allow floating turbines to be towed back to port for repairs instead of having to carry them out at sea.

A new MOU on “Collaboration in Energy Related Fields” covers collaboration in areas such as power generation, energy transmission and distribution and energy efficiency.
