Solar energy plant delivers 100 MW of capacity to power grid

NRG Energy Inc. (NYSE: NRG), MidAmerican Solar and First Solar Inc. (NASDAQ: FSLR) delivered the first 100 MW of the 290 MW Agua Caliente solar project to the power grid in Arizona.

First Solar designed and is building the project using its advanced thin-film photovoltaic modules and will operate and maintain the facility. Pacific Gas & Electric Co. (NYSE: PCG) signed a long-term power purchase agreement for all of the project’s output.

The plant is expected to be complete in 2014.
