
Panama plans to increase installed capacity of hydroelectric power generation by 720 MW with 30 new hydropower plants.
Seventeen of these projects are in a preliminary phase and seven are in an engineering phase, for a total investment of approximately $200 million. The rest of the projects are under construction for a total investment of about $583 million.
These power plants are expected to be completed by 2016.
