Electricité de France SA said April 6 that it had fixed a leak detected at an unnamed nuclear power plant in France.

According to The Wall Street Journal, France’s nuclear regulator Autorité de Sûreté Nucléaire said it had ranked the leak as a low-level incident, but asked EDF to keep the reactor shut down until inspectors have completed an investigation into the incident.

EDF reportedly said a faulty joint on a pump used to cool the reactor had caused a leak inside the reactor building. The water from the leak was collected in circuits that exist for this use, the company said in the article.

The joint was reportedly damaged by fire, which occurred on April 5 after lubricant from one of the reactor's cooling pumps spilled on the floor, generating smoke and small flames inside the reactor building, EDF said in the article. The reactor automatically shut down after the fire and continued to be cooled normally.
