Joint venture to provide external hazard assessments for nuclear power plants

Apr 12, 2012

Curtiss-Wright Flow Control's (NYSE: CW) business unit, Scientech, said it has reached an agreement with URS Corp. (NYSE: URS) and Paul C. Rizzo Associates Inc. to jointly provide seismic, flooding, other external hazard evaluation and probabilistic risk assessment (PRA) services to the U.S. nuclear power market. The organizations said they are working together to provide utilities with solutions to emerging needs and new regulatory requirements.

"With these agreements, we are well positioned to address emerging opportunities as they develop to provide our customers solutions that offer them ever increasing levels of safety and reliability," said David Linton, president, Curtiss-Wright Flow Control Co. and co-chief operating officer, Curtiss-Wright Corp.

The partnership said it can respond to current and future needs that include responding to post-Fukushima NRC requests for seismic, external flooding and other external challenges.
