GE (NYSE: GE) will supply six Jenbacher gas engines to a landfill gas-to-electricity power plant in Chile.
The Loma Los Colorados landfill will host an 8.4 MW plant expansion that will use six of the 1.4 MW J420 Jenbacher units. GE will install the units adjacent to seven GE Jenbacher engines already on site for a total generating capacity of 18 MW. The company will also provide a master engine control system.
GE expects the units to enter operations between 2012 and 2014. Generadora Trasandina S.A. (GTSA) provided design and engineering support for the initial phase of the project. GTSA will also own the units during the next 10 years and is renting them to KDM Energia, the plant’s owner, under a 10-year agreement.
