Emerson Process Management (NYSE: EMR) will install its Ovation expert control system at a new 660 MW, supercritical coal-fired power plant in Indonesia.
Emerson will supply a total of 19 Ovation controllers, nine workstations and the company’s EDS enterprise visualization technology to the plant, which is expected to be commissioned in February 2013 and is one of the first supercritical plants to be built by China National Technical Import and Export Corp.
The Ovation technology is designed to monitor and control the plant’s Babcock & Wilcox Beijing Co. Ltd. boiler and Shanghai Electric Corp. turbine. Unifying boiler and turbine controls provides improved plantstability, responsiveness and thermal efficiencies; tighter overall control of plant operations; and a clearer view of key plant and turbine parameters. The system will also perform data acquisition and manage the plant’s modulating control system, sequence control system, furnace safety supervisory system, feedwater turbine control system and electrical control system, as well as the supervisory and plant management system.
