
Brazil-based Eletrobras (NYSE: EBR) said it is looking into building a 1,500 MW hydropower plant and two transmission lines in Mozambique, Africa. The cost of the project is expected to be $6 billion.
The 932-mile power lines will be built in partnership with state-owned Electricidade de Mocambique. The financing of development in Africa is still being formed and the studies are expected to be complete by the end of 2013, according to a press release.
Eletrobras is also planning to build several hydroelectric power plants in Nigeria.
