Dominion breaks ground on combined-cycle gas-fired power plant

Construction began on a 1,239 MW natural gas-fired power plant in Warren County, Va.

Dominion Power (NYSE: D) said the $1.1 billion plant is expected to be complete by December 2014. Burns & McDonnell, along with joint venture partner Zachry Industrial, were picked to provide engineering, procurement and construction services for the combined-cycle plant.

The 3-on-1 facility will use a Mitsubishi TC4F steam turbine and three Mitsubishi M501GAC gas turbines and dry cooling through an air-cooled condenser.
