The Lower Colorado River Authority (LCRA) and Fluor Corp. (NYSE: FLR) broke ground on the Ferguson Replacement Project in Texas.
The project will replace a natural gas-fired unit at the 470 MW Ferguson Power Plant with a 540 MW combined-cycle natural gas-fired power plant. The new plant will be built adjacent to the Ferguson plant. LCRA plans to decommission the existing plant following Fluor’s two-year construction phase that is expected to bring the new power plant on line in 2014.
Fluor is currently performing site preparations and expects construction staff levels to reach a peak of 450 workers in spring and summer of 2013.
