
The Babcock & Wilcox Co. (NYSE: BWC) said that its subsidiary Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group Inc. (B&W PGG) was awarded a $150 million contract to design, supply and build emissions control equipment for Wisconsin Power & Light’s Columbia coal-fired power plant in Wisconsin. WPL is a subsidiary of Alliant Energy (NYSE: LNT).
B&W PGG will engineer and supply four spray dry absorber (SDA) systems, two pulse jet fabric filters, a lime preparation system, ash recycle systems and related equipment for Columbia Units 1 and 2. B&W PGG's subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Construction Co. Inc., will erect and install the equipment.
Engineering work for the project is currently underway, with construction to begin in October 2012.
