Caterpillar Inc. (NYSE: CAT) has signed an agreement with the local utility company on the Island of St. Pierre for two 6CM32C and four 9CM32C diesel generator sets and associated equipment. The new power plant will provide up to 22 MW to the island, a French territory south of the Canadian province of Newfoundland.
The utility company has assembled a joint venture, including Cat dealer Eneria, to build the new power plant on St. Pierre. Once completed, Caterpillar said the new plant will provide double the capacity of the old plant.
Work on the project will start in early 2012, with the Cat generators being delivered near the end of the year.
