B&W wins environmental controls contract for Alabama manufacturing plant

The Babcock & Wilcox Co. (NYSE: BWC) said its subsidiary, Babcock & Wilcox Power Generation Group Inc. (B&W PGG), has been awarded a contract to engineer, procure and construct (EPC) environmental control systems for three units at Ascend Performance Materials' Decatur, Ala. manufacturing plant.

B&W will design, supply and install three selective non-catalytic reduction (SNCR) systems for nitrogen oxides control and an industrial baghouse for particulate emissions control. The project scope also includes foundations, structural steel and construction services for the approximately $20 million project.

Engineering is underway, and work is scheduled to be completed in December 2012.
