The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) has approved a proposal from the North American Electric Reliability Corp. (NERC) that aims to separate out and fix “minor” transmission reliability issues across the electric grid. The proposal, known as the Find, Fix and Track approach, is meant to streamline the time and resources that could be spent on more significant issues.
FERC has stipulated several conditions for the program, including several on how a violation is classified as posing sufficiently "minimal risk" to the transmission system. The decision can be read here.
