FirstEnergy board member announces retirement

FirstEnergy Corp. (NYSE: FE) said Jesse T. Williams Sr., will retire from the company's Board of Directors, effective March 1, following 20 years of service.

Williams joined the Board of Directors of Ohio Edison in 1992. He was named a board member of FirstEnergy Corp. when it was formed in 1997 following the merger of Ohio Edison and Centerior Energy Corp. During his tenure, FirstEnergy completed mergers with GPU Inc. in 2001, and Allegheny Energy Inc. in 2011.

FirstEnergy's Board now has 14 members. Williams will continue to serve as a director for Jersey Central Power and Light, a FirstEnergy Corp. electric utility subsidiary.
