Capstone Turbine Corp. (Nasdaq: CPST) on Feb. 14 said it sold its first microturbine in the Philippines. The C800 will operate on biogas at a large farm in Banga, South Cotabato, Philippines, to generate onsite energy.

Biotech Farms Inc., one of the Philippines' largest integrated hog and poultry layer farms, selected the Capstone C800, which will be fueled by biogas processed from animal waste in an onsite anaerobic digester. The C800 will produce onsite energy for the farm's feeding equipment, ventilation fans, water pumps, and lighting, allowing Biotech Farms to be self-sufficient with its power requirements.

Capstone's Asian-Pacific distributor, Sobono Energy, secured the order and will supply and commission the C800 power package this spring.
