Wind power farm to be built in Kansas

EnXco, an EDF Energies Nouvelles Co., and Kansas City Power & Light (KCP&L) have entered into a power purchase agreement (PPA) for a 100.8 MW wind energy facility to be built in Ford County, Kan. The agreement was finalized in November 2011.

EnXco will develop, build, and own the Spearville 3 Wind Project, consisting of 63 General Electric (NYSE: GE) XLE turbines, while KCP&L will buy the power generated under a 20-year power purchase agreement.

The project anticipates the commencement of construction in late Q1 2012 with expected commercial operation achieved by the end of December 2012.
